How to earn IHG One Rewards Points

IHG's loyalty program allows members to earn points for qualifying stays and eligible charges. The program starts awarding points from the day a member enrolls in it, and not for any stays completed before enrollment, as indicated in program records. If a member enrolls in the program during a stay in any IHG-branded hotel, except InterContinental Alliance Resorts and Mr & Mrs Smith partner hotels worldwide, they will receive 1,000 points for that stay if the reservation was made through IHG's websites, the IHG One Rewards App, IHG WeChat mini-program, IHG Customer Care, directly with an IHG-branded hotel, or through an online travel agent such as Expedia.com and booking.com.

 

Most IHG-branded hotels award members ten points per US dollar or local currency equivalent on qualifying stays, while Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites properties award members five points per US dollar or local currency equivalent. However, there are exceptions, such as at IHG Army Hotels, where members earn three points per US dollar. At InterContinental Alliance Resorts, members must book through IHG Customer Care, IHG Websites, IHG One Rewards App, or IHG WeChat mini-program to be eligible for points. Moreover, at the Venetian Resort Las Vegas and the Palazzo at the Venetian Resort, members will earn 2,000 points per qualifying stay, while at the Venetian Macao, the Londoner Macao, and the Parisian Macao, members will earn ten (10) points for each US dollar on qualifying stays. At IHG-branded Residence properties, excluding voco Residences, members earn two and a half (2.5) points per US dollar or local currency equivalent. It's worth noting that IHG One Rewards is only applicable at specific Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas properties.

IHG-branded hotels may offer points as rewards, recognition, or incentives to their guests and employees, while other companies that have agreements with IHG may offer points to their employees and customers. These points may come in the form of point vouchers, which are distributed on a promotional basis and are subject to the terms and conditions set forth on the vouchers. If you receive a point voucher, you should deposit it according to the instructions on the voucher, and keep a copy of it for six months or until the deposit appears on your statement or account record on the IHG One Rewards website.

Perks and benefits of IHG Rewards Hotels

As a member of the Program, you may be entitled to special services and benefits at IHG hotels. These benefits and services may change from time to time and may vary by hotel, country, and geographical region. Benefits available to members include earning points for reward nights, with no blackout dates, access to member rates and offers, free Wi-Fi, and late check-out. Additionally, becoming an elite member unlocks even more perks.

It's worth noting that most benefits are only available to members who book their hotel reservations through IHG's websites (including mobile sites), the IHG One Rewards App, IHG WeChat mini-program, IHG Customer Care, or directly with an IHG-branded hotel.

 

Options:

IHG Milestone Rewards

Starting January 1, 2022, members of the IHG Rewards Program can earn Milestone Rewards on Elite Qualifying Nights within the calendar year. These Milestone Rewards are earned every 10 nights, beginning at 20 nights and going up to 100 nights. Moreover, when a member reaches 40 and 70 nights, they can choose two Milestone Rewards options.

To track their Elite Qualifying Nights activity, members can use their Rewards Wallet within the My Account section of the IHG website or the IHG One Rewards App. Once a milestone is reached, members have 90 days to select a benefit on the IHG website or the IHG One Rewards App. It's important to note that all Milestone Reward selections are final, and if a member fails to select a benefit within 90 days, it will be forfeited.

IHG Food & Beverage Reward

IHG One Rewards members can redeem a Food & Beverage Reward for credit against applicable food and beverage charges during a hotel stay, with a maximum of USD20 per voucher at participating IHG Hotels & Resorts. It's worth noting that each Food & Beverage Reward can only be used once, even if the applicable charges total less than USD20 (e.g., redeeming a Food & Beverage Reward for USD15 of applicable charges will provide a credit of USD15 only).

The Food & Beverage Reward is valid for 12 months from the milestone selection and applicable charges vary by property, but generally include food, beverage, and gratuities. Additionally, the Food & Beverage Reward will be issued to the member in 6 local currencies (20USD, 15GBP, 15EUR, 125CNY, 2000JPY, and 70SAR) based on the member's country of origin, and the Reward amount and credit value will be converted to the hotel's local currency at the time of redemption.

There is no limit to the number of Food & Beverage Rewards a member can use per stay, but they are responsible for any outstanding balance after the credit is applied. The member will earn IHG One Rewards points on the outstanding balance only. It's also important to note that the Food & Beverage Reward is non-transferable and cannot be applied to multiple rooms or reservations, or shared rooms.

Value is not exchangeable, replaceable, or transferable for cash or other types of credit, and once redeemed, Food & Beverage Rewards cannot be reversed or cancelled. Moreover, the Food & Beverage Reward is applied to the total Food & Beverage applicable charges, and cannot be applied to food only or beverage only.

The Food & Beverage Reward cannot be applied if staying as part of a group, package tour, or convention where charges are being paid by a third party. It's also not available at vending machines, third-party outside food deliveries (e.g., Uber Eats), restaurants that do not allow charges to a guest room bill, gift shops, and taxes associated with minibar charges. The benefit is available at all IHG brands except Holiday Inn Club Vacations, Mr & Mrs Smith properties, and InterContinental Alliance Resorts (Las Vegas and Macau). Lastly, the benefit cannot be used in the marketplaces.
